Episode 67 — Better Late than Never … to Be Kind

WARNING – In this episode we mention an issue that recently stirred up a whole hornets’ nest of rage and bile on both sides of the table. If you hear what we have to say, and want to comment. We just ask two things of you first:

1) We at GSP adhere to Wheaton’s Law. Follow it.
2) Listen to the whole episode before you look to comment.

If you still want to ask us about why or how we come to our conclusions, then feel free to comment or email us at mike@innroadsministires and luke@innroadsministries. Thanks

There wasn’t a whole lot of exciting gaming news either personally or corporately that we could talk of, so in this episode, we can FINALLY sit down to talk about the Doctor Who Christmas special that said good by to Mike’s favorite Doctor, Matt Smith. We also discuss the nature of fandom. We can twist something so beautiful as a passion for a piece media, a game, or whatever – and turn it into a means to separate, isolate, and degrade others for not doing it in the manner we believe to be correct.

Be sure to check out this blog post from Jamie the Very Worst Missionary to see what Mike got so excited about. If you do, tell her we say hi. She’s a very talented blogger.

Episode 66 – Raising a Flag for the FLGS

In this episode, the guys have a moment of mourning for Luke’s friendly local gaming store. As we reflect on the nature of fellowship and community that requires the brick and mortar world of the FLGS, we talk about the nature of fellowship and the need for it at a level far deeper than a church potluck or Sunday morning service.

Episode 65 – Looking Into the New Year

In this episode Mike and Luke look into the future . . . Nah, not like that. As the new year dawns, the guys talk about what they are hoping to see happen personally as well as for the ministry. Everything from putting together play-by-post Pathfinder games to welcoming the guys at Saving the Game into the network.

Episode 64 – The One Where Mike Talks About Netrunner Again

Android-Netrunner-BannerIt’s the end of the year, and while many of us are gearing up for the wonder that is the holiday season, Mike and Luke are talking about their favorite games of 2013. We promise, only one of the “awards” goes to Android: Netrunner

Also – congratulations to Håvard Hofstad Ruud – winner of our Hearthstone for Christmas contest. Enjoy it, Håvard, especially since they just announced that the open beta is getting delayed.

Bonus Content – Barbara Ann Blackburn and the Knights of the Dinner Table

kodtwallpaper1280We had the opportunity to sit down with Barbara Ann Blackburn. On top of working with the Kenzer Company on role playing games like Hackmaster and Aces and Eights, Barbara works to help make the Knights of the Dinner Table comics with her husband and creator of the series Jolly Blackburn. KoDT has been a staple of the tabletop RPG community since it started appearing in the pages of Dragon Magazine, filled with characters and stories that could come straight from any gaming group.

Currently, they are putting together a kickstarter project in the hopes of bringing the characters from the comic to life in a web series. You can find that kickstarter here.816d17aa5b184f78ff6f559d94d5aefb_large

If you are unfamiliar with KoDT and its characters, be sure to go to http://www.kodtweb.com and learn more about the comics behind the project.

Episode 63 – Gallifrey Stands After 50 Years!

GSP 63 – final Doctor Who – 50th Anniversary Special - The Day of the DoctorYou knew it was bound to happen. There was no way our dashing duo of all things geek would let something like the Doctor Who 50th anniversary go by without comment!  In this episode, hear Mike and Luke gush like fan boys, as well as discuss their lists of top 5 things you should consider buying for the geek in your life.

Episode 62 — All Along the Inn Road

Greetings to all our wonderful minions!  The day we have been awaiting has finally arrived. What was once only referred to as Project Awesome has been revealed in its true form. InnRoads Ministries. In this episode, Luke and Mike tackle a bunch of gaming stuff you are probably slightly interested in (Hearthstone, the new consoles, Android Netrunner) as well as reveal the new ministry of which Game Store Prophets is only one part.

UntitledIf you’re seeing this on the Game Store Prophets page / iTunes / Stitcher / Etc – check us out at our new home at www.innroadsministries.com

Episode 61 – Out of Darkness and Into the Hobby

If you were new to hobby boardgaming when you started listening to us – or were not even aware that tabletop gaming actually WAS a hobby – you probably looked to certain iconic pieces of entertainment when somebody used the g-word. Thoughts of Clue, Monopoly, Risk, Life, Sorry, Trivial Pursuit, and more were probably quick to jump to mind.

Then you found out that there was more to gaming than just the games you played when you were kids and the power went out – and a whole new world was opened.

In this episode, the guys make comparisons between finding new games that do what those old clunkers did – and BETTER – with growing and discovering new shades to your walk with God.

There’s also a bit of news as we reveal that there will be probably be a contest where you can get Game Store Prophets stickers, as well as a review of a collectible trading card game called Bible Battles on the horizon.

Episode 60 – The Obligatory Halloween Edition

The boys talk about their recent bouts of gaming, as well as their plans for Halloween. Naturally, we talk about what games are great for those Halloween game nights, and discuss the nature of Halloween for those who claim Christ (which we may have already done in the past – but I site the title of this episode in response to any and all comments)
