Luke spent the weekend in San Francisco at KublaCon, the West Coast’s largest board gaming convention. He is joined by Allen Herring of the Monterey Area Gamers to discuss the first two days of the show.

I was tempted to entitle this episode Too Many Cows – but I went back and forth on whether or not that would be just crazy enough to entice people to listen, or so bizarre it scares people off. To say the least – this episode starts off in a rather interesting manner.
Instead, we’ll talk about games the games we’ve been playing, and wonder if the new generation of gamers will be as quick to pick up the standards that brought so many of us into the hobby.

This episode the tabletop news and stories are pretty slim. A series of unfortunate events kept us from the gaming tables. There were fortunate ones too – but I’m sure you’ll agree that any event that takes you away from the table is at least partly unfortunate.
Instead, we banter about video games like Civ 5, Smite, and Hearthstone for a while until that gives way to a discussion about our Pathfinder Play-by-post, Absalom in Shadow, and Luke drops the mic with some philosophical complexity that may make your brain hurt.

We’ve been buys. Between an insane amount of average gaming activity on Luke’s side and all the glorius fun of putting together our tabletop day event, you can even hear it in our voices. However, we recap our gaming experiences as of late, I give a full report on this year’s event, and give my first impressions of the game Freedom: The Underground Railroad after being contacted by the game’s designer.
Whether it’s International Tabletop Day, or just a regular run of the mill tournament at your FLGS, get out there and get involved with the gaming community and watch how it can do wonderful things in the life of another person.

In this one we update you on the upcoming Tabletop Day fund raiser event, talk about the new games we’ve been playing (in which LUKE is the one talking about Netrunner).
We also talk about the Dark Dungeons movie project based on the chick tract of the same name. We discuss the nature of the old argument and hope for the death throws of the war between role players and the Church.

In this episode, we talk about the continued work of getting InnRoads off the ground. We discuss game experiences like getting trounced by my brother in City of Remnants and Luke’s triumphant return to the World of Warcraft (even if it’s just vanilla).
Afterwards we move on to reflecting on the article I wrote for the InnRoads site about learning to let my geeky self out of the cave I kept him in for so long.
