Episode 75 – Embracing Our Histories

UPDATE: We had a handful of listeners get back to us about the episode getting cut off prematurely. We think there must have been a glitch in the initial upload. We’ve fixed the problem and you should be able to hear the full version of the episode now. Thanks for your patience and for letting us know about the issue.

I was tempted to entitle this episode Too Many Cows – but I went back and forth on whether or not that would be just crazy enough to entice people to listen, or so bizarre it scares people off. To say the least – this episode starts off in a rather interesting  manner.

Instead, we’ll talk about games the games we’ve been playing, and wonder if the new generation of gamers will be as quick to pick up the standards that brought so many of us into the hobby.

  1. Hey! Just come here to the midwest. We have global cooling and we have lots of cows. Crops are in almost a month and a half late! I ended up skipping planting oats this year because it was just too late to plant once the snow was off the ground. Much cooler out here. Though it is crazy muggy even at 80.

    • I’ve been trying to convince my family we should move “up and in” for years now. It is not a debate I am going to win.

  2. I would add, Wiki is not a great place to learn about Jesus. However, often you can parse through the references and read books that are more informative. Sadly, wiki is prone to a lot of bias guised as objectivity, based on mod’s preferences. I’m afriad there is little substitute for traditional research. 🙂

  3. Ok, last thought for the episode… regarding foundational games, even the old ones… like werewolf-esque games… are worth introducing. I’ve been surprised by people who’ve never played it. I find these foundational games are foundational for a reason. Cost though is always going to be an issue for new people. I’m am a big werewolf fan, owing to the character study it promotes.

Like you are pointing out, few “gamers” want to play it, because it’s so mundane now in the gaming community. I think there will be a lull where you will eventually have a whole group of new gamers “discover” these foundational games several years from now.
